O'Neil: Running Resume
A
high school state champion in both the 800 meter and 3200 meter,
Ellen blossomed as a collegiate runner. At Dartmouth, she won
six Ivy titles in track, was recognized as the Outstanding Performer
of the Ivy Championships, and was the first distance runner to
qualify for the NCAA's at Dartmouth. O'Neil posted collegiate
pr's of 9:23 (3k) and 16:19 (5k).
After
a long hiatus from competition, Coach O'Neil returned to racing
in 1999 for one year. During this brief time, she recorded road
pr's of 17:02 (5k), 35:41 (10k), and in her first and only marathon,
she was victorious in 2:56:31.
